The Acura logo is a monochrome emblem shaped like a stylized letter “A” enclosed in a rounded frame. Its form is created by two converging elements resembling a measuring tool—a caliper. This image was chosen to symbolize the precision and engineering exactness associated with the brand’s products. The emblem has been in place almost unchanged since the brand’s inception in the 1990s. The name Acura is derived from the Latin root “acu,” meaning “accuracy” or “clarity,” emphasizing a commitment to technical excellence.
Acura is the premium brand of the Japanese company Honda, officially launched in 1986 for the U.S. and Canadian markets. It was the first Japanese automaker to introduce a standalone luxury brand outside of Japan. From the outset, Acura was positioned as a technologically advanced and prestigious label, offering vehicles with advanced features and high build quality. Its most well-known models include Legend, Integra, NSX, and MDX. Over time, the brand expanded into other countries and actively develops both hybrid and electric technologies, balancing sporty performance with comfort.
