The AEG home-appliance brand logo is the brand name set in three uppercase sans-serif letters. In the current version, the mark is most often used in a rich red color and appears as a large, bold “AEG” wordmark designed for clear readability on appliance casings, in advertising materials, and in digital interfaces. Depending on the medium, the logo may also be used in black or white, while the letterforms and proportions remain unchanged.
AEG is a historic German brand whose name comes from Allgemeine Elektricitäts-Gesellschaft. The company traces its roots to Deutsche Edison-Gesellschaft (founded in 1883) and, from 1887, used the abbreviation AEG as the name under which it developed in the electrical engineering industry and the production of household devices. In the early 20th century, architect and designer Peter Behrens played an important role in shaping AEG’s corporate identity and is often cited as one of the first specialists to work systematically on corporate design. Today, AEG is best known as a home-appliance brand within the Electrolux Group: under this name it produces kitchen appliances (ovens, cooktops, range hoods, refrigerators, dishwashers), as well as laundry appliances (washing machines and tumble dryers) and other household products, primarily for European markets.
