The Diners Club International logo is the official mark of the global payment network. Its graphic element features a thick white ring split by a vertical line of the same thickness; the surrounding blue shape is shifted slightly to the right, creating a pseudo-3D effect. Next to it is a two-line serif wordmark: “Diners Club” with “INTERNATIONAL” below; depending on the background, the lettering can be black or white. The logo is used in both horizontal and vertical layouts, and for payment acceptance it is shown as a vertical payment badge inside a blue rounded rectangle.
Diners Club International is one of the oldest card payment systems: the brand dates back to 1950, and the project became known as one of the first widely used “charge card” formats (a card billed to an account). The name reflects the original idea of paying bills, including in restaurants: in English, diners refers to people eating in a restaurant. Today the network operates globally: cards are issued by partner issuers in dozens of countries, and acceptance is stated in more than 190 countries and territories; the international network is part of Discover Global Network and has been owned by Discover Financial Services since 2008.
