The logo of the EU Digital Identity Wallet, the European Union’s digital identity wallet, combines a graphic symbol with the service name. The symbol depicts an open blue wallet. Behind its front section are elements resembling inserted cards or identity documents, with a separate round clasp above them that can also be visually interpreted as a person’s head. A circle of 12 yellow European Union stars appears on the front of the wallet. The composition is complemented by light blue rounded shapes and diagonal stripes in the background. The wording EU Digital Identity Wallet appears next to the symbol, with the word Wallet set noticeably larger. Versions with dark or white lettering and corresponding graphic adaptations are available for light and dark backgrounds. The current brand book has been in use since 2023.
EU Digital Identity Wallet is a Europe-wide digital identity system whose creation was proposed by the European Commission in June 2021. The system’s legal basis was established through the revised European Digital Identity framework, which entered into force in May 2024. It is designed to allow citizens, residents and businesses to prove their identity when using public and private services, store and share digital documents and credentials, and use electronic signatures. EU Member States are required to provide compatible digital wallets that follow common technical requirements and are recognised in other countries across the Union. The applications themselves may be developed by different providers, while use of the wallet remains voluntary for users.
