Where and how can I use it?

SVG format

It’s a lightweight vector format (in kilobytes) that’s ideal for use on websites, in mobile apps, and for print. Thanks to its scalability to any size without loss of quality, it can be scaled from the size of an icon to a banner on a building. The file is easily editable in popular graphics editors such as Figma, Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, and others, and opens in Photoshop without any issues.

PNG format

It’s a raster format with support for transparent backgrounds, making it ideal for use on websites, web graphics, in presentations, documents, and social media. PNG preserves high image quality at its original size, but may lose sharpness and become blurred when enlarged. The file easily opens and is used in popular editors such as Photoshop, GIMP, Canva, Figma, and most standard image viewers.

The logo of the European Commission, the executive body of the European Union, combines the EU emblem, a graphic representation of the Berlaymont building and the institution’s name. At the centre is a blue rectangle bearing a circle of 12 gold stars. Behind it, grey lines depict the outline of the Berlaymont building in Brussels, home to the European Commission’s headquarters. The building is rendered as flat line art, but the curves and variations in line length and thickness create visual depth and convey the volume of the architectural form. In the main horizontal version, the institution’s name appears on the right. There is also a vertical version and a version without the name for multilingual use. Colour and monochrome versions are available for different applications. The current unified visual identity was introduced in 2012 and replaced the many separate logos and graphic styles previously used by Commission departments and programmes.

The European Commission is the main executive body of the European Union and is based in Brussels, Belgium. It develops the EU’s overall strategy and policies, proposes new legislation, monitors its implementation, ensures compliance with the Union’s treaties and laws, manages the budget and funding programmes, and takes part in international negotiations on behalf of the EU. The Commission operates through directorates-general, services and executive agencies responsible for specific areas of policy and administration.
