The Magalu logo, for a Brazilian marketplace and retail brand, consists of the brand name set in lowercase letters in a large bold sans-serif typeface. The letters have rounded shapes, tight spacing, and softly smoothed corners. The brand system uses different versions of the mark: the blue Magalu wordmark without additional elements, versions with a thin horizontal color bar beneath the wordmark, a white version for dark or colored backgrounds, a black version for single-color use, and variants adapted to Magalu’s brand colors. The color bar runs beneath the wordmark and features a transition from yellow and orange to pink, purple, blue, and green. A version with the full MagazineLuiza wordmark is also used, set in updated typography and intended for specific touchpoints where the company’s full name is retained. In consumer communication, the short name Magalu is used instead of the full name Magazine Luiza.
Magazine Luiza S.A. is a Brazilian retail company founded in 1957 in Franca, São Paulo, by Luiza Trajano Donato and Pelegrino Donato. Initially, it was a small gift shop called A Cristaleira, and the name Magazine Luiza appeared after a contest on local radio, where customers chose the name in honor of the popular saleswoman Luiza. The company developed as a chain of retail stores, launched an e-commerce website, began developing a marketplace, and in 2018 started using the Magalu brand more actively. Today, Magalu operates as a major Brazilian multichannel retail and e-commerce platform, bringing together an online store, marketplace, physical stores, logistics, financial services, advertising solutions, cloud technologies, and other areas of its digital ecosystem.
