The Microsoft Store logo, for Microsoft’s app and digital content store, takes the form of a blue shopping bag with rounded lower corners and a handle. At the center is the Microsoft emblem made up of four squares in red, green, blue and yellow. The blue surface of the bag and its handle feature smooth gradients that give the symbol depth and volume. The shopping bag motif has been part of the store’s visual identity for many years, and in 2017 Microsoft introduced a new Microsoft Store logo alongside the change from the Windows Store name to Microsoft Store. The app’s design was later updated with the new Microsoft Store for Windows 11, while retaining the recognizable shopping bag motif with the Microsoft emblem.
Microsoft Store is the digital store of the American technology company Microsoft for finding, downloading and purchasing apps, games and other digital content. Its history began with Windows Store, which launched on October 26, 2012, alongside the global release of Windows 8. The store subsequently evolved into a unified platform for software and digital content and was renamed Microsoft Store in 2017. Today, it is built into Windows and is also available on the web, supporting apps based on Win32, .NET, UWP, PWA and other technologies. In 2021, Microsoft completely redesigned Microsoft Store for Windows 11, updating its interface, search and publishing policies.
