The logo of the company RED Digital Cinema, a manufacturer of digital equipment for filmmaking, is most commonly represented by the word “RED” written in bold, sans‐serif typeface with strict geometric forms. This variant is used as the primary mark on products, interfaces and press materials. The logo is monochrome and may be accompanied on the left side by the caption “SHOT ON”, separated by a vertical bar. A more elaborate version exists: a circular badge with a three‑dimensional red lens in the centre, surrounded by grey iris blades and circular text along the rim — “RED DIGITAL CINEMA” at the top and “SHOT ON RED” at the bottom. This version is used less frequently, predominantly in marketing materials or as a certified badge.
RED Digital Cinema was founded in 2005 by entrepreneur Jim Jannard with the aim of revolutionizing digital cinematography. The breakthrough camera RED ONE established a new benchmark for image quality, quickly gaining industry recognition. RED cameras have been used to shoot numerous Hollywood films and series. The brand is known for its modular systems and camera lines such as DSMC, KOMODO and V‑RAPTOR, delivering high flexibility and imaging performance. In 2024 the company was acquired by Nikon, which provided new momentum for development. Today RED remains one of the leaders in professional cinematography.
