The Burning Man logo, representing a cultural movement and annual event, combines a human figure with raised arms and the organization’s name in three lines of uppercase lettering. Two long, curved shapes outline the body and arms, with a small angular head between them. The letters have geometric outlines, with sharp diagonal cuts in some characters. The logo can appear in black or white. The central figure refers to the wooden Man whose burning gave the event its name. The symbol can also be used without the lettering.
Burning Man Project is a nonprofit organization based in the United States that supports art, community initiatives and an international community of participants. The movement began in 1986 with the burning of a wooden figure on a San Francisco beach. That gathering grew into the annual construction of Black Rock City in the Nevada desert, a temporary city filled with art installations, themed camps and events created by participants themselves. Burning Man culture is guided by ten principles, including gifting, participation, self-expression and leaving no trace. Beyond the desert gathering, the community develops regional events and art projects in other countries.
