The Art Basel logo is a dark wordmark in two parts, separated by a thin light-grey vertical line. The words Art and Basel use narrow, heavy sans-serif letters with gently rounded corners. The vertical divider extends above and below the lettering and helps the name read as a combination of art and the city where the fair began. The logo retains capital A and B initials, with the remaining letters in lowercase. It includes neither a date nor the name of a particular edition. Its compact horizontal composition serves as a general identifier for Art Basel, while individual cities and programmes are named in accompanying materials.
Art Basel is an international art fair platform founded in Basel, Switzerland, in 1970 by gallerists Trudl Bruckner, Balz Hilt and Ernst Beyeler. The original idea was to create a meeting place for galleries, artists and collectors with an international programme. Art Basel Miami Beach followed in 2002, Art Basel Hong Kong in 2013, and the Paris fair’s history began in 2022. Its geographical reach has since extended beyond those locations: the first Art Basel Qatar edition took place in 2026. Alongside gallery booths, the platform develops curated formats, public projects and discussions. The Unlimited sector accommodates large-scale works that exceed the usual dimensions of a fair booth, while Conversations brings together discussions on current issues in art and the art market.
