The Google I/O logo consists of the Google wordmark and a large geometric I/O symbol on the right. A vertical rectangle, a diagonal slash and a solid circle form a simple, high-contrast composition. The dark version is intended for light backgrounds and the white version for dark backgrounds; both retain the same arrangement of elements and contain no event year. The name’s history is connected with the number googol, from which Google takes its name: a one followed by one hundred zeros. According to the organisers, a shortened image of a one and a zero provided the starting point for the conference name. The familiar interpretations Input/Output and Innovation in the Open emerged during later discussions of the name and added to its technological meaning.
Google I/O is Google’s annual conference devoted to products, platforms and tools for developers. Its history began in 2008. In the main presentations, the company introduces new technologies and updates to its services, while technical sessions explain their practical use. Programme topics include Android, web development, artificial intelligence and other parts of Google’s ecosystem. Talks are accompanied by demonstrations, learning materials and code examples. The online format enables developers from different countries to follow announcements and study the materials after the event. I/O serves both as a venue for product launches and as a forum for professional exchange between Google engineers and the developer community.
