The gamescom logo, representing the computer and video games trade fair, consists of the brand name in lowercase letters and an outlined symbol on the left that resembles a location pin. The outer circle extends into a pointed tip at the bottom, with a second circle inside. The lettering uses a solid geometric sans-serif with rounded shapes. It is based on ITC Avant Garde Gothic, although individual letters were modified specifically for the logo. The black version is intended for light backgrounds and the white version for dark ones. In the 2024 visual identity, this monochrome composition is combined with a bright palette and variable graphic patterns, while the logo itself remains black or white. The outlined symbol is also used as a standalone icon without the lettering.
gamescom takes place in Cologne, Germany, combining a public gaming exhibition with a professional industry event. It is organised by Koelnmesse and game, the German games industry association. The first edition was held in 2009. Visitors try new games and meet developers at the stands, while companies hold business meetings, presentations and previews of upcoming projects. The programme includes announcements at Opening Night Live, esports and themed events, as well as spaces for independent teams. This combination allows the fair to serve both players eager to discover new releases and professionals looking for partners and business development opportunities.
