The Yandex Disk logo of the cloud file storage service is designed as a blue tilted flying saucer in a minimalist style. The symbol is shown as if viewed from the side and slightly from below: a raised dome is visible at the top, while a glowing white oval module is placed in the lower part. The entire form is built from smooth rounded lines and is perceived as a single three-dimensional object. The name of the service is directly connected with the word “Disk” and emphasizes its function as a space for storing files in the cloud.
Yandex Disk is Yandex’s cloud service launched in 2012. The beta version was introduced on April 5, 2012 as a service for storing files online and accessing them from different devices. Over time, Yandex Disk became part of the Yandex 360 ecosystem and today is used to store files, photos, and videos, synchronize data between devices, upload and download files through the browser and apps, share links, and automatically upload photos from a phone. In its official presentation, the service is described as cloud storage for files, photos, and videos with access from any device.
