The Adobe InDesign logo, representing professional software for laying out print and digital publications, is a square icon with rounded corners. On a dark burgundy background, two large, bright pink sans-serif letters, Id, form an abbreviation of the application’s name. The I is a straight vertical bar, while the d has a rounded body and a straight vertical stroke on the right. Early versions of InDesign featured a butterfly emblem, which was replaced by the Id lettermark in 2007. Over the following years, the color shades, letter weights and background design changed. In 2020, the icon gained rounded corners and lost its contrasting border. During Adobe’s icon system update in 2025, the letters became bolder. The current version retains the recognizable combination of pink and dark burgundy.
Adobe InDesign is professional desktop publishing and page layout software from the American company Adobe Inc., used to prepare publications for print and digital distribution. Its first version was released in 1999 as the successor to Adobe PageMaker, and since 2013 it has been developed as part of the subscription-based Adobe Creative Cloud ecosystem. InDesign is used to create books, magazines, newspapers, brochures, catalogs, advertising materials, digital publications and interactive documents. It provides tools for multi-page layouts, typography, text styles, tables and images, supports PDF and EPUB export, and allows files to be prepared for professional printing. InDesign integrates closely with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InCopy, making it useful for publishing houses, editorial teams, design studios and printing companies.
