The Bacardi logo consists of a circular red graphic element with a white-and-black border, inside which a bat with outstretched wings is depicted. Next to it is the brand name BACARDI in black. The lettering uses a proprietary typeface in which the letter I features a wavy line above instead of a standard dot. This composition is used in the current versions of the brand’s logo on product packaging, in advertising materials, and in visual communications.
The Bacardi brand was founded in 1862 in Cuba by Don Facundo Bacardí Massó and takes its name from the founder’s surname. The brand’s history began with the production of rum using a new at the time purification and aging process, which made it possible to create a smoother-tasting spirit. Since its founding, Bacardi developed as a family business and eventually expanded beyond Cuba, becoming an international alcoholic beverage brand. Today, the brand is owned by Bacardi Limited and remains one of the most well-known and recognizable names in the global rum and spirits industry.
