The logo of Brazil’s central bank Banco Central do Brasil consists of a geometric symbol and the institution’s name in text. The symbol is rendered in a dark turquoise color and designed so that only pseudo-3D side faces are shown: this creates an impression of volume and a light-and-shadow effect on the «faces», even though the mark itself remains flat. The name is set nearby in uppercase letters in a bold sans-serif type; in some versions, the symbol is used on its own, without the text. In the brand’s visual history, an update in 2001 is noted to adapt the mark for digital use, and a color palette adjustment in 2017.
Banco Central do Brasil (BCB) is Brazil’s central bank and a federal public institution responsible for monetary policy and the stability of the country’s financial system. Its primary objective is to maintain price stability; alongside this, the Bank regulates and supervises financial institutions and key parts of the payment infrastructure, and it manages Brazil’s international reserves. Under its mandate, BCB must also support stable economic activity and employment, without placing these goals above price stability.
