The Bank of China logo, one of the largest state-owned banks in China, is designed as a combined mark consisting of a graphic symbol and a text element. The core of the visual identity is a circular red emblem. Inside the circle is a square opening, from which vertical elements extend upward and downward, forming a composition that refers to traditional Chinese coins with a square hole, worn on a cord, and read as a stylized Chinese character “中” (zhōng), meaning “center” and “China”. The text part of the logo is rendered in black and includes the Chinese name “中国银行”, below which the official English name Bank of China is placed.
Bank of China Limited is a state-owned commercial bank of the People’s Republic of China, founded in 1912 and regarded as one of the oldest banks in the country. Initially, the bank performed the functions of China’s central bank and later evolved into a universal financial institution. Today, Bank of China provides a wide range of services in retail and corporate banking, international settlements, investment banking, trade finance, and asset management. The bank is part of China’s “big four” largest banks and operates one of the most extensive international networks among Chinese financial institutions, playing a significant role in the global banking system.
