The Bitbucket logo, for a source code hosting and collaborative development service, consists of a blue graphic symbol whose broad geometric outline forms the shape of a container or basket that narrows toward the bottom. The corners are rounded, and the outline is open at the upper right. In the full horizontal version, the Bitbucket name appears to the right of the graphic symbol in dark lettering, while the icon can also be used on its own. In 2017, the Bitbucket logo was redesigned as part of an update to Atlassian’s overall product logo system. The current version retains the recognizable geometry of the symbol and its blue color.
Bitbucket is a software product from Atlassian, a company founded in Australia. It is designed for hosting source code repositories, developer collaboration, and CI/CD processes. The service launched in 2008 and was initially focused on the Mercurial version control system. Atlassian acquired it in 2010. Bitbucket later added Git support, and in 2015 Atlassian consolidated its code management solutions under the Bitbucket brand, renaming its server product Stash to Bitbucket Server. Today, Bitbucket Cloud is based on Git and allows users to host repositories, work with branches and pull requests, perform code reviews, automate builds, tests, and deployments through Bitbucket Pipelines, and connect development with Jira and other Atlassian tools. Bitbucket Data Center is also available for self-hosting within an organization’s own infrastructure.
