The current Johnson & Johnson logo, used by the American healthcare and medical technology company, consists of the brand name in red, set in custom-designed upright lettering with smooth, rounded forms. Between the two parts of the name is a large ampersand with a looped design and a long diagonal stroke. In addition to the horizontal version, a vertical two-line layout is used, as well as the abbreviated J&J mark, in which the ampersand is positioned centrally between two large J letters. The new visual identity was introduced in September 2023 and replaced the famous handwritten logo that had been used for more than 130 years. Its design was derived from the handwriting of co-founder James Wood Johnson, who wrote the company name this way as early as 1886. The name Johnson & Johnson comes from the surname of the Johnson brothers who founded the company. The red color was retained when the brand identity was updated.
