The Maersk logo of the Danish transport and logistics company consists of a brand symbol with a star and a wordmark. The symbol is designed as a light blue square with rounded corners, containing a white seven-pointed star inside. Next to it is the word MAERSK, set in large uppercase sans-serif letters, with straight lines, angular forms and even stroke thickness. For dark backgrounds, a white version of the logo is used, with a white square frame with rounded corners instead of the blue panel. The white seven-pointed star became part of Maersk’s history in 1886, when Peter Mærsk Møller chose it for the funnel of his first steamship, LAURA. Later, the star became a permanent element of the brand and was preserved in Maersk’s updated visual identity.
