The Mercado Libre logo, for the Latin American e-commerce platform, combines a handshake graphic mark with the written brand name. The main mark is a yellow oval with a dark blue outline, containing two white hands joined in a handshake. In the horizontal version, the mercado libre wordmark appears on the right in two lines, set in lowercase dark blue letters. A vertical version is also used, with the mark placed above the large wordmark. The handshake is connected with the idea of a deal between a buyer and a seller, while the Spanish name Mercado Libre means “free market”. In 2020, during the pandemic, the brand temporarily replaced the handshake with an elbow greeting, but the current logo once again uses the handshake mark.
Mercado Libre is a technology company and the largest online commerce ecosystem in Latin America, founded in 1999 in Buenos Aires by entrepreneur Marcos Galperin. Mercado Libre operates across Latin American countries and has become one of the region’s key players in e-commerce, online payments, and product delivery.
