The emblem of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia is a heraldic mark based on a golden double-headed eagle with raised wings and crowns linked by a ribbon. On the eagle’s chest there is a red shield depicting a horseman on horseback spearing a dragon. In the eagle’s talons are two silver palm branches crossed diagonally, a distinctive element of the ministry’s emblem. The mark is used in full color and single-color versions, as well as in an outline version used in official documents, digital media, and print.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation is a federal executive authority responsible for formulating and implementing the state’s foreign policy. The ministry oversees international relations, diplomatic representation of Russia abroad, protection of the country’s interests and its citizens on the international stage, and coordination of the foreign policy activities of other government bodies. The history of the ministry dates back to the Collegium of Foreign Affairs established in the early 18th century, and today the MFA of Russia continues to play a key role in the system of public administration and international relations of the Russian Federation.
