The current Mozilla logo, used by a developer of browsers, apps, and other software tools, consists of a wordmark and a flag symbol. The logo itself is used in black or white. The flag symbol looks like a vertical rectangle placed next to an M from the wordmark, rotated by 90 degrees and featuring a pixel shifted downward at its base. This design preserves a connection to the brand’s historic symbol, the head of a tyrannosaurus. Mozilla introduced the updated brand system on December 4, 2024. The name Mozilla was formed by combining “Mosaic killer” and “Godzilla”.
Mozilla is an American technology project that brings together the Mozilla Foundation, Mozilla Corporation, and an international community of contributors. Its history began in 1998 after Netscape’s source code was released, and later Firefox and other products and services, including Mozilla VPN, Mozilla Monitor, Firefox Relay, and MDN Plus, were developed under this name. Today, Mozilla is not limited to software development: the brand is also associated with efforts toward a more open and accessible internet, privacy, security, research, and initiatives in technology and digital rights.
