The NFC logo, which identifies short-range wireless communication technology, features a graphic symbol made up of curved lines that form an N-like shape at its center. In the main version, the central symbol is surrounded by several open concentric arcs, with arrows at the top and bottom pointing toward its center. This design indicates where to hold a smartphone or another device to establish an NFC connection. The simplified version consists solely of the central symbol, with thick lines and rounded ends, without the additional arcs and arrows. Both marks can be displayed in various colors, provided there is sufficient contrast with the background. NFC Forum publicly introduced the marking system in June 2022, building on the earlier N-Mark symbol, which continues to be used alongside the newer versions.
NFC (Near Field Communication) is a wireless communication technology that allows devices to exchange data over distances of a few centimeters. It is used for contactless payments, electronic tickets, transit cards, digital keys, reading electronic tags and connecting devices. The technology is developed and standardized by NFC Forum, an international nonprofit association founded in the United States in 2004 by Nokia, Philips and Sony. The organization develops technical specifications, ensures interoperability between devices from different manufacturers, provides device certification and maintains a unified system of NFC marks. Its members represent the mobile communications, microelectronics, payment technology and consumer electronics industries.
