The logo of the TV channel «Pyatiy kanal» takes the form of the number 5, rendered in solid white with straight, sharply cut outer contours based on angles that are multiples of 45 degrees. The sign is placed on a square dark pink panel with a beveled upper-left corner. After the 2023 update, the logo became more geometric and visually heavier: the rounded outlines disappeared, and the number itself gained sharper straight edges. The channel’s name is expressed directly through the numeral, which is why the number 5 remains the basis of its visual identity.
«Pyatiy kanal» is a Russian federal television channel and a brand of Joint Stock Company «Petersburg Television and Radio Company», tracing its history back to Leningrad Television, which began broadcasting on July 7, 1938. In the 1990s, the channel used the name «Petersburg — Pyatiy kanal», then the name «Petersburg» was used in on-air branding and positioning, and on April 1, 2004, both the number 5 and the name «Pyatiy kanal» returned to the air. Today, the channel broadcasts across Russia, is part of the first multiplex of mandatory free-to-air national television channels, and develops news, social and political programs, documentary projects, films, and TV series. On its official pages, the channel also describes itself as one of the leaders in news broadcasting and notes a nationwide reach of more than 142.6 million people.
