The Twitch logo is a recognizable element of the brand identity, rendered in its signature purple color scheme. The main component is the word “twitch,” set in the custom-designed Roobert font, featuring soft geometric shapes for optimal on‑screen readability. In 2019, the logo received a refresh to increase contrast, update the typography, and emphasize the purple hue. In 2024, a minor tweak introduced a deeper purple shade, a subtle 3D effect, and an expanded color palette for better display adaptability. Alongside the wordmark, Twitch often uses the Glitch icon—a pixel-art-style speech bubble with a “face” executed in retro-gaming style. This symbol is employed as the app icon, avatar, and within platform interfaces.
The Twitch service was launched in 2011 as a dedicated section of Justin.tv focused on video game streaming. Founders Justin Kan, Emmett Shear, Michael Seibel, Kyle Vogt, and Kevin Lin quickly expanded the platform, and by 2014 Twitch had become the leading live-streaming service. Amazon acquired the platform that year for $970 million. Today, Twitch hosts not only gaming but also Just Chatting, music, sports, podcasts, and art. Millions of streamers and tens of millions of viewers engage daily, supported by subscription systems, monetization tools, and interactive features, and Twitch continues to roll out new creator and advertiser tools.
