The Yelp logo, for the local business search and review service, consists of a wordmark and a red brand mark. The full version uses the black word yelp, set in lowercase bold sans-serif letters with rounded shapes and terminals. To the right of the name is the red burst mark, made of five separate elongated petal-like elements with rounded corners, with the top element slightly larger than the others. These elements radiate from the center in a circle and form a recognizable five-part composition. Yelp connects the burst mark with the graphic symbol that appears above a comic-book character’s head at a moment of discovery or a sudden idea. Before this mark appeared, Yelp had a speech-bubble logo, and the recognizable burst appeared after a brand identity update in the early years of the service.
Yelp Inc. is an American internet company founded in 2004 by Jeremy Stoppelman and Russel Simmons. The platform helps people find local businesses and choose restaurants, bars, shops, salons, doctors, auto repair shops, plumbers and other services based on reviews, ratings, photos and business information. For businesses, Yelp serves as a platform for online presence, reputation management, customer acquisition and advertising. The service grew from the idea of bringing word-of-mouth recommendations online and became one of the best-known local search and review platforms in the United States and other countries. Yelp hosts hundreds of millions of reviews, and millions of businesses use the platform to interact with customers.
