The Chizhik logo features a stylized image of a round black bird on a bright yellow background. Its head, with a large eye and short beak, is drawn simply and clearly, making the symbol friendly and memorable. The name “Chizhik” is usually rendered in a slightly slanted, sans-serif font beneath the icon, with colors and tilt conveying lightness and energy. The name refers to a small, quick, cheerful bird—and also plays on the acronym of the brand’s black and yellow colors carefully chosen to create emotional and recognizable branding. Since its launch, designers have made only minor visual tweaks, adding a speech bubble in communications, while the core—a black bird on yellow—remains unchanged.
Chizhik is a retail chain launched by X5 Group in 2020, designed as a hard‑discount format with a carefully curated, limited assortment. The first store opened in Moscow and sparked rapid expansion: the chain reached over 40 locations by the end of its first full year, 1,000 by 2023, and 2,500 by April 2025 across 45 regions in Russia, serving more than a million customers daily. Offering around 800–1,000 SKUs, more than half are private-label goods undergoing strict quality testing and tasting. The network actively integrates digital services and delivery, with its mission centered on offering high quality at fair prices.
