The Google Docs logo, for Google’s service for creating and collaboratively editing documents, is designed as a blue sheet icon with large rounded corners and a folded upper right corner. The current version keeps the recognizable document shape but now has a blue gradient fill: the main body transitions from rich blue to lighter blue shades, while the folded corner is highlighted as a separate light blue triangle. In the lower central part there are two white horizontal bars with rounded ends, resembling lines of text. The previous flat Google Docs icon was used after the Google Workspace update in 2020, and in 2026 the mark was updated as part of the transition of Workspace icons to a gradient style. The name Docs is short for the English word documents.
Google Docs is a cloud-based word processor from the American company Google and part of the Google Workspace ecosystem. The service works in browsers and mobile apps, allowing users to create and edit documents, collaborate on the same file in real time, manage access, leave comments, use suggestions, work offline, and open Microsoft Word documents. Google Docs is also connected with other Google products: users can search for content on the web and in Google Drive, insert data from Sheets, work with PDFs, and use artificial intelligence features to prepare and edit text. The history of the service is linked to the web-based editor Writely, which became part of Google in 2006 and later developed into one of the main tools for working with documents in Google Workspace.
