Bernard is an American brand whose history began in 1947, when Arthur A. Bernard founded Engineered Welding Products in Chicago. In 1954, he developed and patented the Dual Shielded process for flux-cored arc welding, and in 1963, after the company moved to Beecher, Illinois, it began operating under the name Bernard Welding. The company was acquired by Dover Corporation in 1970 and by Illinois Tool Works in 2001. Today, Bernard is part of ITW Welding and specializes in semiautomatic MIG welding guns and consumables, including air- and water-cooled models, fume extraction guns, guns for self-shielded flux-cored wire, contact tips, nozzles, and other components for industrial welding. Its headquarters and manufacturing facilities are located in Beecher, Illinois.
