The current Freightliner logo, used by the American manufacturer of trucks and tractor units, is designed as a horizontally stretched black-and-white emblem with a black inner field, a wide silver chrome border, and an outer black outline. At the center is the chrome FREIGHTLINER name set in slanted uppercase letters. The emblem itself has an oval shape, and at the top there is a small rounded angular protrusion, which makes the sign look more dimensional and easier to read on vehicles. Freightliner continues to use this same word-and-emblem logo in its current brand identity.
Freightliner traces its history back to 1942 and today operates as a brand of Daimler Truck North America, headquartered in Portland, Oregon. The brand produces medium-duty, heavy-duty, on-highway, and electric trucks, and in North America it remains one of the most prominent and successful names in the commercial vehicle segment. Historically, the company’s development began with Leland James’s idea of making truck components from lighter aluminum instead of traditional steel, and this approach led to the first Freightliner truck. At the same time, the brand is used not only in North America: Freightliner’s official dealer network also covers a number of countries outside the region.
