The emblem of the FSB of Russia, the federal executive body responsible for ensuring the security of the Russian Federation, is a complex heraldic mark with a shield, a sword, a double-headed eagle, and a ribbon bearing the service name. At its base is a red shield elongated downward with a silver border, behind which a silver sword with a gold hilt is placed vertically, pointing downward. In the field of the shield there is a gold double-headed eagle with raised wings, crowns, a scepter, and an orb, and on the eagle’s chest there is a small red shield with a horseman striking a dragon with a spear. Along the sides and below the eagle runs a blue ribbon with the gold Cyrillic inscription “ФЕДЕРАЛЬНАЯ СЛУЖБА БЕЗОПАСНОСТИ”. The emblem was established by a decree of the President of the Russian Federation in 1999, and its description was clarified in the 2010 revision.
