The Peugeot logo has undergone significant evolution over more than 170 years, but the lion has remained its constant symbol. It first appeared in 1850 as a symbol of the company’s products — saw blades, whose strength and reliability were associated with the king of beasts. As early as 1889, with the release of the first car, the lion became the official emblem of the brand. Throughout the 20th century, the logo changed many times: from a realistic lion on arrows to abstract and stylized forms. In the 1960s, a shield with a lion’s head appeared, and in 1975 — a more graphic standing lion, symbolizing dynamism and strength. In 1998 and 2010, the logo was modernized, giving it volume and a chrome effect. Since 2021, a crest with a lion’s head in profile has been used — a return to the roots, but in a modern minimalist form. All the changes reflected not just visual trends, but strategic shifts of the brand.
Peugeot is a French company with a deep history, which began its activity in the early 19th century as a manufacturer of metal products and kitchenware. The first steam-powered car was created in 1889, and from the early 20th century, the company focused on producing gasoline-powered vehicles. Peugeot played an important role in shaping the French automotive industry and is now part of the international Stellantis group, continuing to produce passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and electrified models. The brand is known for its engineering precision, clean European design, and a balance between everyday practicality and technological solutions. The name of the brand comes from the Peugeot family, who founded the business, and today it is one of the oldest and most recognizable car brands in the world.
