The Pix logo, the instant transfer payment system in Brazil, consists of a graphic symbol and a text part with the name. The symbol is in a green-turquoise color and looks like a rounded-corner diamond divided into four sections, resembling a payment chip; inside, two white wavy lines cross diagonally, forming a cross. Next to it is the thin, light “pix” wordmark in lowercase, with the dot above the “i” designed as a small green-turquoise diamond; in interfaces, the symbol is often used on its own as an app/icon mark. The name Pix is associated with the expression pagamento instantâneo (“instant payment”).
Pix is Brazil’s national instant transfer system, developed and operated by Banco Central do Brasil (the Central Bank of Brazil) and launched on November 16, 2020. It enables sending and receiving transfers in seconds, 24/7, including weekends and holidays, between accounts at different banks and payment institutions. For transfers, people use, among other things, QR codes and “Pix keys” (for example, a phone number or e-mail), which is why the service became a mass tool for everyday transfers between people and payments to businesses both offline and online.
