Where and how can I use it?

SVG format

It’s a lightweight vector format (in kilobytes) that’s ideal for use on websites, in mobile apps, and for print. Thanks to its scalability to any size without loss of quality, it can be scaled from the size of an icon to a banner on a building. The file is easily editable in popular graphics editors such as Figma, Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, and others, and opens in Photoshop without any issues.

PNG format

It’s a raster format with support for transparent backgrounds, making it ideal for use on websites, web graphics, in presentations, documents, and social media. PNG preserves high image quality at its original size, but may lose sharpness and become blurred when enlarged. The file easily opens and is used in popular editors such as Photoshop, GIMP, Canva, Figma, and most standard image viewers.

The Signal logo, used by the secure messaging service, in its full version consists of a graphic symbol and the word Signal placed next to it. The graphic symbol takes the form of a blue circular message bubble with a pointed tail, outlined on the outside by a dotted line. The word Signal is set in a straight sans-serif typeface with softly rounded shapes. The app icon is also used separately without the wordmark.

Signal grew out of projects by Open Whisper Systems in the field of private mobile communication. In 2014, the service was released for iPhone as an app for encrypted voice calls, and in 2015 secure messaging and secure calling were brought together in a single Android app under the name Signal, uniting the earlier TextSecure and RedPhone projects under one brand. In 2018, the Signal Foundation was created to support and develop the service. Today, Signal emphasizes that it operates as a nonprofit organization, does not run ads, does not use trackers, and is funded through grants and donations, while its open protocol is also used for end-to-end encryption in other services.
