Where and how can I use it?

SVG format

It’s a lightweight vector format (in kilobytes) that’s ideal for use on websites, in mobile apps, and for print. Thanks to its scalability to any size without loss of quality, it can be scaled from the size of an icon to a banner on a building. The file is easily editable in popular graphics editors such as Figma, Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, and others, and opens in Photoshop without any issues.

PNG format

It’s a raster format with support for transparent backgrounds, making it ideal for use on websites, web graphics, in presentations, documents, and social media. PNG preserves high image quality at its original size, but may lose sharpness and become blurred when enlarged. The file easily opens and is used in popular editors such as Photoshop, GIMP, Canva, Figma, and most standard image viewers.

The Sparkasse logo, used across the savings bank network, consists of a red graphic symbol and the brand name. The symbol is an “S” formed from broad horizontal and vertical strokes, visually contained within an implied square with rounded corners. A separate circle resembling a dot sits above the letter. This composition traces back to the image of a piggy bank with a coin: the first version of the symbol was created in 1938 by Austrian graphic designer Lois Gaigg. The letter represented a piggy bank with a coin slot, while the circle above represented a coin being dropped into it. In 1972, designer Otl Aicher redesigned the symbol for a unified Sparkasse visual identity, removed the depiction of the coin slot, retained the circle, and gave the letter a shape close to its current form. At the same time, HKS 13 red became the main brand color. In 2003, the symbol received a minor adjustment and has retained this design ever since. In the full version, the word Sparkasse appears in red to the right of the emblem. A white version of the logo is also used on red and other dark backgrounds.

Sparkasse is the collective name for Germany’s network of regional savings banks, rather than a single banking company. Sparkassen operate as independent universal banks and are part of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe, while maintaining close ties to their cities, municipalities, and districts. They serve individual customers, businesses, including small and medium-sized enterprises, municipal organizations, and other institutional clients, providing bank accounts, payment services, loans, savings and investment products, and other financial services. There are currently 337 Sparkassen in Germany, with more than 10,500 branches and almost 200,000 employees. At the end of 2025, their combined balance-sheet total reached €1.62 trillion, while the number of current accounts exceeded 42.5 million.
