The TAKAYAMA logo, used by the automotive oils and lubricants brand, consists of a circular dragon emblem and the brand name. The dragon is shown in profile with its head facing right, while its long curved body coils around the center to form an almost closed circle. The emblem uses shades of red and orange transitioning into dark red, with the brand name placed beside it in large black uppercase sans-serif letters. The logo is used in both horizontal and vertical layouts, with the name positioned beside the emblem or below it respectively. The dragon motif originated in early sketches by Kaito Nomura, the lead developer of ADAPTEC technology, who drew a dragon inside a circle in his notes. When the brand was created, designers refined the drawing by changing the dragon’s shape and color. The name TAKAYAMA was chosen in honor of Kaito Nomura’s hometown in Japan’s Gifu Prefecture.
TAKAYAMA is a Japanese lubricants brand of Japan Chemical Innovations Corporation K.K. (JCI Corporation), a company founded in 2015 and headquartered in Tokyo. Sales began in 2017 in the CIS countries, Central Asia and Southeast Asia, and the brand later expanded into new markets. Today, TAKAYAMA oils are available in around 20 countries, are well known in the CIS countries and Turkey, and are also sold in Finland and Bahrain. The range includes engine and transmission oils, products for commercial vehicles, motorcycles and other machinery, as well as coolants. In 2025, a new production facility was opened in Dubai to expand supplies to the Middle East and neighboring markets.
