The Volvo logo is one of the most enduring and recognizable symbols in the global automotive industry. Its basis is a circle with an arrow pointing upwards and to the right—a historical alchemical symbol of iron and the mark of Mars, associated with strength and reliability. This emblem emphasizes Swedish engineering traditions and high-quality materials. Historically, the logo featured a diagonal band that secured the mark on the radiator grille. In 2021, the brand introduced an updated version—a minimalist flat logo with the clear VOLVO lettering inside the circle. It became a symbol of the company’s digital transformation and is used on new models, including electric vehicles.
Volvo is a Swedish company founded in 1927 as a subsidiary of bearing manufacturer SKF. The name comes from the Latin “volvo,” meaning “I roll.” From the very beginning, the brand focused on durability and safety, becoming the first to introduce the three-point seatbelt. Today, under the Volvo name operate two major divisions: Volvo Cars, the passenger car manufacturer (since 2010 part of the Chinese Geely Group), and Volvo Group, which includes divisions producing trucks, buses, construction equipment, and power systems. Volvo Trucks is one of the world’s largest truck manufacturers. Despite the division, both branches share a common heritage and Swedish engineering spirit, focusing on sustainability, innovation, and safety.
