The logo of Western Union, an international money transfer service, consists of a graphic symbol and the brand name. The symbol resembles the letter “W”, formed by wide diagonal strokes. The separate element on the left also allows the shape to be read as a combination of the letters “W” and “U”, the initials of Western Union. In the primary horizontal version, the yellow symbol is placed on the left, while the brand name appears in black on the right, set in a large, bold sans-serif typeface across two lines. This version is used on white and other light backgrounds. On dark backgrounds, the symbol remains yellow and the lettering becomes white. On the brand’s signature yellow background, both the graphic symbol and the wordmark may appear entirely in black. A monochrome black version is also used on transparent or light backgrounds. The current visual identity was developed by Love Street & Co in collaboration with designer Darrin Crescenzi and unveiled in 2023. The combination of flowing lines and angles pointing in different directions brings the company’s customers and their aspirations together in a single symbol.
