X5 has been developing its history since 1995, when the first supermarket «Perekrestok» was opened, and in 1999 the «Pyaterochka» chain appeared. In 2006, their merger led to the creation of the X5 Retail Group holding, becoming the largest grocery retailer in Russia. Over the following years, the company expanded its network across the country, implemented digital technologies, and developed logistics and online services. The 2025 rebranding and the transition to the short name X5 marked a new stage — the development of an ecosystem in the field of food and services, combining technology, sustainable production, and convenience for consumers.
