The current Subaru logo features an elongated blue oval with six silver stars—one large and five smaller. It represents the merger of six companies that formed Fuji Heavy Industries, Subaru’s parent company. The brand’s name is taken from the Japanese word for the Pleiades star cluster, meaning “to unite” or “gather together,” which inspired the emblem. The modern look of the logo was introduced in the early 2000s and has remained largely unchanged since, reflecting technological precision and Japanese engineering.
Subaru emerged in 1953 as an automotive division of a major industrial group with aviation roots. Its first mass-market success was the compact Subaru 360, followed by its signature boxer engines and symmetrical all‑wheel drive. The brand gained global fame through motorsport, particularly in the World Rally Championship with the iconic Impreza WRX STI. Today, Subaru produces dependable crossovers, sedans and wagons, focusing on safety, handling and confidence both on and off the road.
